The weakest link in the Web of Life

December 24, 2012

What a grace it is to be confronted again with the wisdom of my mother. I hadn´t seen her in a while and certainly didn´t have a long/stretched conversation with her like the one just now.

I want to share only one thought that occurred to me during the conversation. At some point we were talking about interconnectedness I guess through the metaphor of the chain and its links. It should be commonly known that everything is connected all the way through no matter what thorugh space and time. That is a fact of life, the Web of Life.

I guess that what i had forgotten is that despite the atomization of social life in the current state of Modern society, despite the far fetched individualization of the human experience, humanity is still an intricate part of this Web of Life. Therefore the real need of our age is to understand these relations and make them work for the benefit of all parties involved. This means that we cultivate an understanding to act in ways that encompass an understanding that breaks through all the borders that we have created through the Cartesian way of thinking (as in the dichotomy that arises when the mind and body are deemed two seperate entities).

Imagine that your actions are concerned with the wisdom from knowledge and mistakes from the past projected beyond our silly attempts to stay forever young and socially accepted onto the future onto all communities of life that sustains us all.
